Ballena National Marine Park
The Ballena Marine National Park is named for the whales that journey here every year. In Costa Rica, we are blessed with visits by migrating Humpback Whales from both the northern and southern hemispheres!
The endangered whales come to our warm, protected waters from December to April from Alaska, and between August and November from Antarctica.
The national park encompasses 270 acres of land and 13,300 acres of ocean, and contains the largest coral reef on the Pacific side of Central America – creating some of the best diving and snorkeling in Costa Rica.
